Cowboys Offense Still Stalled in 37-21 Loss to Chiefs

FRISCO, Texas — The Dallas Cowboys fell to 0-2 on the season after a 37-21 defeat against the Kansas City Chiefs, leaving fans frustrated and searching for answers. Despite a valiant defensive effort with four interceptions, the Cowboys’ offense remains lifeless, failing to score a single offensive touchdown for the second straight week. The disappointment was echoed by star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, who voiced both his frustration and belief in the team’s direction.

“It’s frustrating, no way around it,” Lamb said postgame. “I’ve got 5 catches for 110 yards, but it means nothing if we’re not scoring. Two games, 0 offensive touchdowns—that’s not who we are. We’ve got to be better, and that starts with all of us.”

The Cowboys benched Dak Prescott in favor of rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders, who made his first NFL start. While Sanders displayed potential, his performance was hampered by constant pressure from a porous offensive line. Late in the fourth quarter, with the Cowboys trailing by three and driving into Chiefs territory, Sanders threw a tipped-pass interception that sealed the defeat.

“I trust the decision to roll with Shedeur,” Lamb said. “He’s got the talent, and we believe in him. But we need to execute—plain and simple. The season’s just starting, and there’s still time to turn it around. We’ve got to find the end zone, and it has to start now.”

The Cowboys’ secondary shined by intercepting Patrick Mahomes four times, giving the offense every chance to get back into the game.

  • DaRon Bland: 1 INT, 14 yards
  • DeMarvion Overshown: 1 INT, 47 yards
  • Donovan Wilson: 1 INT, 29 yards
  • Markquese Bell: 1 INT

Despite the defensive effort, the Cowboys struggled offensively, leaving Offensive Coordinator Victor Price under heavy scrutiny. Head Coach Mike McCarthy addressed the team’s shortcomings. “We need to establish the run and protect Shedeur better,” McCarthy said. “The effort is there, but we’ve got to execute in key moments. We’re close, but close isn’t good enough.”

What’s Next?

As the Cowboys prepare for a critical Week 3 road game against the Denver Broncos, the pressure to deliver is mounting. With the offense still without a touchdown through two weeks, the team must improve quickly or risk the season slipping away.

“There’s still time to turn things around,” Lamb emphasized, “but it has to start now.”
