Cowboys Fall to Bears in Week 4 Blowout, 45-10

Dallas, TX — The Dallas Cowboys’ struggles continued in Week 4 as they were dismantled by the Chicago Bears, 45-10, leaving fans and analysts alike questioning the state of the team. Despite a late touchdown connection between Shedeur Sanders and CeeDee Lamb, the Cowboys’ offense was outclassed all game, with the offensive line becoming the focus of post-game criticism.

The Bears’ defense bullied Dallas, limiting the Cowboys to just 156 total yards. Rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders finished 9-of-19 for 131 yards, 1 touchdown, and 1 interception. While Sanders found some rhythm late, it was too little, too late, as Caleb Williams and the Bears’ offense torched the Cowboys’ defense with 451 yards of total offense.

Dallas running back Deuce Vaughn put in a solid effort on the ground, rushing 14 times for 57 yards and catching 4 passes for 32 yards, but the lack of protection up front made it impossible for the offense to sustain drives. Vaughn also had a standout performance in the return game with 114 kick return yards, but it wasn’t enough to spark the Cowboys.

General Manager, Jerry Jones didn’t hold back in his post-game press conference, expressing his frustration with the offensive line in a brutally candid way:

“Man, our O-line was worse than the 2024 CU Buffs’. The defense got through faster than a fat kid at a buffet. We let one man have his way with us like playboy bunnies. Caleb Williams? He had more time to throw than Aaron Hernandez had in court. At this rate, Shedeur’s gonna need life insurance, not a playbook.”

The Cowboys struggled to keep up with Chicago’s relentless defense, going 3-for-9 on third downs and allowing consistent pressure on Sanders throughout the game. Chicago’s Williams threw for 237 yards and 3 touchdowns, taking full advantage of the protection his offensive line provided.

Despite the team’s poor performance, Sanders showed flashes of his potential, including a 47-yard touchdown pass to Lamb late in the fourth quarter. “We have to keep fighting,” Sanders said after the game. “We knew it wasn’t going to be easy, but our goal is still five wins. Four to go.”

The Cowboys now fall to 1-3 on the season, with mounting questions about their ability to compete moving forward. If the offensive line doesn’t improve, Dallas may struggle to even get close to that five-win goal. The pressure is on for McCarthy and the coaching staff to make adjustments before the season spirals out of control.

Next week, the Cowboys face another tough challenge as they hit the road to take on a high-powered offense in Los Angeles. Whether they can fix the issues up front remains to be seen, but McCarthy and company know one thing—if things don’t change fast, it’s going to be a long season.
